Mayuri

Mayuri Tokekar has served as a clinician for more than a decade. She started her journey by completing a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Mumbai, India. She holds an Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in International Health Management from London; Post Graduate Certificate in Sensory Integration from Ulster University; and Masters in Science of Occupational Therapy from Brunel University, London.

She has recently completed a 500 hours teaching training from Bristish Wheel of Yoga, London and qualified as a accredited Yoga teacher. Her clinical experience, primarily in neurodevelopmental disorders in a variety of settings including inpatient hospitals, private clinics, schools, and community-based settings brings diverse expertise.

She has presented on her interests which include feeding and eating issues in autism and yoga therapy for autism.

She has served as a placement educator for Brunel and London South Bank University for 4 years. Always striving for creativity and growth, she believes in supporting young professionals develop further and find their passions.

She weaves yoga and mindfulness into occupational therapy practice integrating it in the school environment to cultivate healthy minds for students and staff members.

She has over 7 years’ experience working at specialist schools for autism, ADHD, Dyslexia and Developmental delay, providing consultancy for families, supervision for junior staff members and student occupational therapists. She is an experienced assessor and provides bespoke school and home intervention plans for children having difficulties in achieving their full potential due to difficulties in motor, sensory, social and life skills.

She was honoured in 2017 by The Occupational Therapy Show with highly commended outstanding occupational therapist award.

In February 2019, a project ‘OT Café’ founded by her at The Holmewood School was honoured at a national level by TES Independent Schools Awards - Special Initiative of the year award. 

In May 2019, the same project won second award for its’ unique take on food and catering at the Education Business Awards – School Catering Award.
